Sunday Snaps v. 9

In the gorgeous Chateau Laurier for our MP dinner
Hanging with Sir John A at the airport while waiting for students to arrive
A warm welcome for our group at the Senate!
The Peace Tower!
I treated myself to Valentina by Valentino. New signature scent!
The War Memorial
I arrived home to a box full of goodies - my winnings from the Saltscapes photo contest!
Taken this morning, Easter Sunday on my way into the service!
Signs of spring - the geese are back!
I'm back in action after two weeks in Ottawa. Volunteering with Forum is something I love, but it is so intensive and jam-packed with activities that I barely get time to rest let alone blog, so I have been been admittedly lax the past couple of weeks. Excuses, excuses, I know.

Being back in the nation's capital was fantastically fun, I got to see old friends and make new ones, and spend two weeks watching youth from across Canada grow so much as they learned about how our government works = awesome. So the post-Forum exhaustion I am recovering from now is so worth it! In any case, these snaps give you a sneak peek into what I was up to over the last little while. Want to see more? Check out my instagram here.

Sunday Snaps v. 8

It's been a couple of months since my last Sunday Snaps post, and so I thought I'd offer a bit of a glimpse into my winter thus far.

In short , what's come and gone, as seen above: a late snowfall just in time for Christmas and a sweet niece playing peekaboo with a toque. From getting ready to head out to a Christmas show with my sis to the beginning of our holiday decorating and the Reason for the season: our nativity scene. From delicious Christmas morning breakfasts (even homemade bagels - thanks Rosie!) to a little post-holiday shopping trip. From hot cocoa shared with my dear sister to getting bundled up in head-to-toe Joe Fresh now that winter has finally arrived on PEI - it was a long time coming!

If you want to follow along on instagram and see day-to-day happenings and inspirations in real time, you can find me here, or simply search "lotsixtyfive".

Sunday Snaps v. 7: Fall Colours

Autumn is one of my very favourite times of year. Crisp fresh air, beautiful colours, cozy sweaters, tights and hot chocolates make for the perfect season in my opinion. I absolutely love the changing colours of the leaves and this year on PEI they have been the most beautiful that I can remember in quite some time. Reds, yellows, oranges and even pinks are fluttering through the Acadian forest (eh Rose?) and each leaf seems lovelier than the last.

To give you a peek into my fall, I've shared a few autumnal photos that I snapped this month and initially shared over on instagram (find me @lotsixtyfive). They don't give the full range of beautiful colours of trees, flowers, and skies seen around this island in the past few weeks, but they do give a good idea!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

Sunday Snaps v. 6

Summerside waterfront at low tide on a rainy morning.
Trying out "My Very First Knockwurst" from OPI's Germany Collection.
Trying on some fall pieces from Joe Fresh
A fishing boat turned bench in the garden at The Dunes
Bright and pretty necklaces at The Dunes
Some lovely woven totes I wish I'd happened upon during the beachy days of summer.
My sister Rosalyn made me the most delicious roasted tomato sauce. Here it is pre-oven! It was YUM!
Passing a pretty lily pond. Although all I saw were lilypads, no lilies, sadly.
Here's a little peek into what I've been up to lately. From walks along the waterfront, to sisterly cooking dates, to shopping around Joe Fresh and a lovely local boutique & café, The Dunes, to a leisurely wander through a garden. Admittedly, the last few weeks of summer have been treating me pretty well, but I am absolutely loving the arrival of fresh, crisp fall breezes and the possibility of tights and cozy knits.

Things to look forward to for the rest of September? A short trip to the Canadian prairies, a visit from a dear friend, and apple picking with my family. Want to have a window into some of those adventures? Give me a follow over on instagram - find me @lotsixtyfive!

Hope you've all had a great a weekend!

Insta-outfit

Blouse: Ruche High-Waisted Shorts: Dorothy Perkins Necklace: Smart Set: Glasses: Fendi
Top: Forever 21 Black Skinnies: Old Navy
Top (worn purposefully backwards): Smart Set Shorts: Dorothy Perkins
An article a while back over on IFB shared how instagram can "ruin" blogs, and although I do actually love it, there are admittedly times when it's far easier to snap a phone photo and share it instantly than trekking out with my camera and tripod to capture the perfect outfit photo. It's an easy pattern to fall into, but it's true that my instagramming has swiped some potential blog content. You'll certainly still see an outfit post here or there if you follow my photo feed on instagram (@lotsixtyfive), but I'm going to make more of an effort to photograph those outfits for the blog, even if it is a little extra work! It's worth it right?

That being said, here's a few simple "insta-outfit" photos I've worn over the last little while! Look forward to a "proper" outfit post coming up this weekend!

Sunday Snaps v. 5 - Playing Tourist

Confed Centre Young Company

Confederation Chamber, Province House
The handsome couple visiting from Ottawa!
Lovely shells & sea creatures from Amos Pewter
Flag Sculpture at Peake's Quay
A favourite brightly coloured house in Victoria-by-the-Sea
Confederation Bridge, Borden
Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel
Bottle Houses in Cap-Egmont
Old farmhouse, Cap-Egmont
Fishing Boats, Abram-Village.
This weekend I've had the pleasure of having a pair of wonderful friends visiting from Ottawa, and have spent the last couple of days showing them my beloved PE Island. We've headed to beaches of both the north and south shores, to a finale outdoor performance by the Confederation Centre's Young Company, to a visit to historic Province House, to wandering the Charlottetown Waterfront, to exploring the Évangeline region today finding bottle houses, pretty churches and ocean views.

If you follow me on Instagram (find me at: lotsixtyfive), you will have seen many of these adventures documented, but I thought this would be a perfect day to share some wonderful PEI-themed Sunday snaps with you all. I may be a bit biased, but I really do think that picturesque spots are easily found around every corner of the Island, and it certainly doesn't hurt to play tourist in your own area now and then to re-discover favourite spots and even to discover some new ones (as I did today!).

Hope you've all had a lovely summery weekend.

Sunday Snaps v. 4

Since I've snapped many a photo over the last couple of weeks, I thought I'd better share another edition of Sunday Snaps with you all. To start, a clematis happily growing in our garden, a case full of pretty vintage jewelry and brooches at Joy - a sweet little shop in New London, and polka-dotted Joe Fresh t-shirts (I want to collect them all!).

Next, my sister Rose gives my sweet niece a kiss during her first trip to the beach - which was a definite success! A misty morning look at our marshy back yard at high tide, and a striped Smart Set skirt that I tried on and eventually hope to go back for!

Finally, an absolutely beautiful double rainbow (my photo doesn't do it justice at all) that gave my heart a major lift - so lovely! A trip to the Summerside waterfront with my lovely Mama and a pretty rose plucked for me by my dear dad.  All three a lovely ending to a long couple of weeks.

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

Sunday Snaps v. 3

For those of you not already following me on Instagram (lotsixtyfive, if you're interested!), here are a few snapshots documenting some of my favourite little happy moments during the last week.  I'll give you the synopsis starting from the top left corner... read on.

Excitedly wearing my Rainey Necklace from Spike the Punch = excitement! A stroll past Province House in downtown Charlottetown, a beautiful new bauble from Runfree, Runwild, a stop for lunch at my favourite local eatery (so good!), my first advance readers copy of a new summery read (find it on shelves in June!), some summery polishes and pretty new bracelets from Joe Fresh, a comfy (if a bit dark) outfit of the day, and last but not least, a pretty field snapped on the way home. Who knew dandelions could be so lovely?

Wishing you all a week full of your own happy moments.

Sunday Snaps v. 2

A few glimpses at my week. From a necklace left behind to a beautiful sunshine-filled morning, to new glasses, to stripe love, a frosty sky, and the first flowers of spring in our front yard, some colourful bags, a few fashionably Canadian reads, and a new favourite nail colour from Essie (Master Plan, if you're interested).

This week? I'll be touring around my beautiful Island with an author visiting from Quebec City. My first ever author tour! I'm hoping to show her some of my favourite spots across the province, so although I'm a bit nervous, it should be fun! And of course, I will be snapping photos along the way!

What were the highlights of your week? I'd love to hear in the comments!
