I'm sure by now most of you have heard this cover of Bon Iver's "Skinny Love" by Birdy, a young and seriously talented young English lady, but I have to share it namely because I've been listening to it non-stop this past week. Would it be terrible to say that I almost enjoy her version more than Bon Iver's original? I hope not.
I think because I am a pianist myself, I am always drawn to singers and musicians who keep it simple with just vocals and a piano. That is partially what I like so much about these songs from Birdy, although part of her allure is that ethereal and lovely voice she's got. Such a talent for such a young artist.
