In Print: Olympia Le-Tan

It should come as a surprise to no one that I am a huge fan of Olympia Le-Tan and her beautiful book clutches. I have also enjoyed her budding foray into full fashion shows, starting with this Sound of Music inspired collection from Fall 2013. Certainly the garments can read a bit kitschy, but I admittedly love the sense of fun and whimsy that is omnipresent. Spring 2015 is no exception, and imagine my library-loving heart's delight upon seeing book printed pieces! So much yes! Even if wearing them would, quite possibly, make me look like Miss Frizzle (who is actually a fellow redhead, I might add), they are wonderful. 
My official thoughts on adding these bookish beauties to my wardrobe? Yup!

Mind Your Manners

When daydreaming about perfect handbags, most fashionable folk would dream of the Chanel 2.55 or a Birkin bag (not that those aren't fabulous, of course), but me? If cost was no object? My bookshelf turned bag-shelf would be filled to overflowing with a perfectly chic library of Olympia Le-Tan book clutches. 

I've posted about my love for these bookish beauties before, but when I spotted this gem among Net-a-Porter.com's new arrivals I was smitten. It's pink, it's modeled on a book of etiquette - for Canadians no less! Could it be more perfect? I think not.

Book Bag

Of course you all know that as a Librarian I can't help but love any and everything book related, so I am definitely a huge fan of these adorable first edition inspired clutches from Olympia Le-Tan, seen here in a fashion shot from everyone's favourite street style photog, Tommy Ton.

Unfortunately for my pocketbook, I certainly do not have $1000 plus to throw down on a clutch, no matter how lovely, beautifully made, or career appropriate it might be. However, all is not lost! While perusing the wares of a favourite Albertan etsy seller of mine, Hoakon + Helga,  purveyor of upcycled handbags made from vintage leather jackets, among other things, I noticed a new addition - the book clutch! With a price planted firmly in the double digits!

Whether this lovely prairie lady was inspired by Olympia's clutches, I do not know, but I am glad to see that for a mere fraction of the cost, at least some variation of the book clutch might make its way happily into my purse collection / onto my bookshelf to look pretty.
