Lot 65: Indian River

I don't usually do Music Monday posts two weeks in a row, but I had to share yet another tune by Jenn Grant because I went to see her show with my friend Charles at St. Mary's Church in Indian River. If you're ever on PEI in the summer, I can't recommend this venue highly enough. The acoustics are incredible and it is the most beautiful old church. The annual Indian River Festival features so many great musicians and acts, it's seriously the greatest thing. I'm planning to go again to see The Good Lovelies perform there in August (and if you're at the show too come say hi!) which I am super excited about.

At Friday's show, Meaghan Blanchard opened the evening and she was great - lively and adorable and fun. I am really looking forward to her upcoming album. I was however most excited to see Jenn Grant for the first time live and was absolutely floored by her amazing performance. So so so so good. She played with her husband accompanying her, sometimes on guitar, sometimes on the grand piano, and the two of them were just adorable. I could have listened to her sing song after gorgeous song all night, not even kidding. It was just the best evening.

After a week of being essentially bedridden with the worst stomach bug I think I've ever had, I'm back in action! And what a day today - spring has finally hit PEI, and I hope it is here to stay! It was a gloriously warm and sunny day, and I relished it! I spent the day with my sweet niece; we went for a delightful walk to the park this afternoon and we had a seriously great time.

This evening with the sun still high in the sky, I thought I'd head out to a local landmark in Indian River, Historic St. Mary's Church. In the summertime it is home to an amazing festival of music (well worth attending if you're on the Island or visiting!), but the rest of the year it stands empty, but beautiful. I think it's really one of the most beautiful churches on the Island, and I've been meaning to take photos here for a while for that reason.

To fit in with the scenery, I chose a black and white ensemble featuring a favourite top of mine that has somehow never yet made it onto the blog - my heart print peplum from Dorothy Perkins. Topped off with an essential pair of cat-eye sunnies from Joe Fresh, of course. Essential not only because cat-eye's are generally awesome, but also because I was pretty much staring at the sun in all of these photos.

I'm hoping to feature outfit posts in some of my favourite places and at various landmarks on PEI in the coming months, so if there is any spot in particular that you'd love to see, please let me know and I'll try my best to include it!
