Friday Favourites v.9

I'm officially re-instating the Friday Favourites of old, sharing with you a few of the things that I've been loving over the last little while. Sharing the good stuff and bits of happy is always a good idea no?

Here are a few things that have caught my eye lately:

 - This great article by the fantastic Isabel Slone featuring one of my all-time favourite brands (Valentino) and cultural appreciation and cooperation (vs. cultural appropriation) done right.  DSquared, take a lesson!

- An absolutely wondeful video on Make-up for Glasses wearers, such as myself, from one of the best, Lisa Eldridge. Invaluable.

- So many gorgeous bookstores to visit - I've already been to a few, and can't wait to check out the rest!

- One of the best books I've read so far this year, Lost & Found by Brooke Davis (not of OTH!)

- This fun (and on point) video on the benefits of friends vs. selfie sticks.

- An absolutely scrumptious-looking brunch idea = yum.

- The Grown-ups Read Things They Wrote As Kids podcast. They recently organized an event on PEI and my fabulous sister read a story! It was the MOST fun, and the podcast shares the best of the best from their live shows. So good, sweet, touching, heartfelt and just plain hilarious.

What have you been loving lately?

Friday Favourites v. 8

It's been a while since my last Friday Favourites post, so I thought it high time to share what I've been inspired by lately - from recipes, to fabulous outfits, to genius DIY ideas, to random things that make me chuckle. Click though for some genuine awesomeness.

This seriously great DIY idea for floral sunglasses from FieldGuided.

A hilarious video of Oprah and a yelling goat. That's right. It's amazing.

This sweet little baby seal outfit that I would love to get for my niece or nephew if it was a little less pricey.

Delicious looking cast-iron pan pizza that I am dying to try my hand at making.

These stunning photos of my old stomping grounds (Ottawa!) taken by the lovely Justyna. My favourite? The fawn!!!

The discovery of the beautiful garments from Romance Was Born - a new-to-me Australian fashion label that is just beyond. The rainbow cape? There are no words.

Pretty floral trousers as seen on Liz of Late Afternoon.

An embroidered quote that I would love to snap up and put on my wall. Brownie points (and insta-friend status) if you know the movie it's from.

Library wallpaper? Yes please! (Although since it's Hermès, I could likely only paper a tiny portion of wall with it)

This absolutely beautiful Jack Bryan dress from Dear Golden Vintage.

Matching literary quotes with songs? The Literary Jukebox is officially a genius idea.

One of my all-time favourite candies? Junior mints. I'd love to try making this homemade version. Yum!

The fantastic looking upcoming fall collection from Aldo Rise. I can't wait!

And last but not least - these "landscaped" nails. Must have taken some major time commitment, but how incredible do they look?

Happy weekend everyone!

Friday Favourites v. 7

It's been a little while since my last Friday Favourites post and I have to say, in the interim, my bookmark list has been getting increasingly full of lookbooks, editorials, great blog posts, articles and then some. Suffice to say, I have lots of inspiration (and a little fun) to share, so here are a few of the top things that have been getting my attention lately.

A fantastic song that I have been belting out in my car non-stop lately.

These delicious looking biscuits that I am dying to try baking.

Going on a trip? Even if you're not, these alpacas will help you out (and make you laugh).

This post from Alix that is brimming over with beautiful and inspiring photos.

A stunning all-white ensemble from Liz. A look I would love to emulate, but not sure if I could make it through a day without staining something.

This on-point (and comical) article about oversharing on social media.

Some lovely braided hairstyles I hope to master over the coming weeks.

Seriously cool growing street art.

A new release (that you can stream for free = win!) by one of my favourite local bands.

Finally - I can't close off a list of Friday favourites without a dose of adorable. My personal favourite? This sweet little tiny piglet. Cutest!

And last but not least - Happy Weekend! .

P.S. Don't forget - there's still time to get your name in to my giveaway for a $100 Shopbop Gift Card!

Friday Favourites v. 6

It's been a long and crazy (but fun!) week - I spent many hours on the road exploring this fair island (travelling about 700 km over a couple of days). Although my first ever author tour was a resounding success I have to say I am glad to be back to my normal pace.  In spite of the fact that I've been a bit MIA lately (at least technologically), I have collected a few of my favourite inspirational, fun, and interesting links to share with you all!

These amazing animal photos.

A hilarious children's book as discovered via A Cup of Jo.

Some incredibly lovely beauty shots of this lady featured on this blog.

A hilariously great kijiji ad.

Delicious sweet treats I'd love to try baking.

A long awaited necklace that is finally on its way to me!

An absolutely perfect spring dress.

Book tote + cat = love.

This edition of Q with Jian Ghomeshi featuring my all-time favourites, The Civil Wars.

My sister Rosalyn's post filled with my adorable niece and nephew. Proud aunt? You bet.

Last but not least, this song that has been stuck in my head all week, and somehow I still love it.

Hope some of these brought a smile to your faces! Wishing you a happy weekend!

The Cut recaps the trends from Fall 2012 runways

Awesome literature-themed street art

Friday Favourites v. 2

A few favourite spots I stumbled upon over the last couple of weeks and thought I would share with you all:

Collections of inspiring photos based on colour, or "Hue"

The Sartorial Twist - otherwise known as the biggest time waster (albeit very fun time waster) ever.

The fabulously pretty scarf from Ban.do that has been on my mind (and wishlist) for ages.
An awesome interview featuring an absolute career dream-come-true, shared thanks to the lovely folks at Modcloth

Adorably fun sticky notes that I am desperate to add to my office collection

Handmade quilts as art. These are seriously cool quilts, in my humble opinion.

Utterly breathtaking embroidered portraits = amazed.

A delicious looking cake inspired by the prints from (one of my favourite designers) Stella McCartney. It  might be one of the prettiest cakes I've seen in, well, ever.

An amazing new tumblr that superimposes pictures from the past onto the same locations in the present. Genius, genius idea (so genius that I had to say it twice). Check it out and follow Dear Photograph here.

A list of vintage shopping musts in Toronto that I am keen to explore. Toronto ladies, do you agree? Any to add to the list? I want to know, so I will be prepared to shop next time I visit your fair city.

You knew the librarian had to stick in at least one book-related post, so here it is. A collection of craft and style inspiring books via Daydream Lily

Found anything fun or worth sharing lately? I'd love to know what is striking your fancy!

Friday Favourites v. 1

I've decided to put together a new feature - Friday Favourites! I know I know, it's not like I am the first to ever think of such a thing, but I am always stumbling onto lovely things, photos, people, sites, and I felt like it was finally time to share some of them with you all!

Although not a new discovery - I have been scrolling through the beautiful photos on Jamie Beck's Tumblr endlessly. So much prettiness!

Drooling over a multitude of endless breakfast possibilities

Playing around with my new favourite thing ever - Pinterest

Listening to this playlist on 8tracks.com

The amazing colour of this sofa

Baking new and delicious recipes from this whoopie pie cookbook - Yum!

This cute dress from Orla Kiely

Hilariously bad books on Awful Library Books (I had to include a little Librarian humour!) This one in particular "How to be a Teen Fashionista"- that wasn't even that old! made me laugh a ton, possibly the worst fashion advice ever!!! Too funny
