Snowshoeing

Curling Sweater: Vintage via my Grampa Turtleneck & Boots: Joe Fresh
Jeans: Old Navy "Rockstar" Leather Mitts: Mark's Work Wearhouse

I'm not sure it's possible to think of a more quintessentially Canadian winter activity than snowshoeing. I even joked a while back with Jentine via twitter about how unbelievable it was that no Canadian bloggers had (to our knowledge) ever incorporated said activity into an outfit post. Until now - ha! Although I admit, this is less a fashionable outfit than a cozy one. This old curling sweater used to belong to my late grandfather. Back about when I was in junior high, I discovered it in his closet, gushed about how great it was and he kindly let me have it. I have loved it every winter since. So yes, I "took my grampa's style" a decade+ before Macklemore made it the cool thing.

Full disclosure: I'm not an avid snowshoer. In fact, the last time I ventured out on any real kind of snowshoeing adventure was on a field trip in about grade six - so not exactly recently. My sister Rose (who is the actual snowshoeing enthusiast in our family) doubted my ability to maintain any control over Dad's traditional Huron snowshoes, and I think she was looking forward to witnessing (and photographing) multiple tumbles into the snow, but I am proud to say that I didn't end up doing too badly! I'm not sure if I'm ready to join Rose in a hike of any real distance just yet, but the gorgeous sunny day and the beauty of the forest in winter definitely did spark an interest!

Such a perfect Canadian winter pastime. The sweater paired with the vintage snowshoes is giving me a vintage heart attack. I can't wait to see your lomo photos!
