A Very Witching Time of Night

A Little Lucy "Mod"

With All Hallow's Eve fast approaching, I thought it timely to post a few of the costume sets that I've been putting together for a couple of Halloween costume contests. Although for one I went with a classic literary heroine and fellow redhead, a one Miss Anne Shirley, all of my other costume ideas were inspired by an assortment of evil Disney villains and femmes fatales. I wonder if this is saying something about me ...
Madame Medusa

Costume idea number two - Madame Medusa from the super old school Disney movie, The
Rescuers. Am I dating myself or does anyone besides me remember this one? And yes, if you'll
notice, it's another red haired lady - just making life easier for myself. Halloween wigs are itchy and gross.

White Witch

Then I looked to the always fabulous Ms. Tilda Swinton as Jadis, the Snow Queen, or how she is perhaps better known, the White Witch. If you don't know, this is a character from C.S. Lewis' The Magician's Nephew and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (the latter of which being also the film featuring Ms. Swinton). I hope you, like me, have read these two books in the order which Lewis intended, that being, The Magician's Nephew first, THEN The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. If not, I'll try not to judge.

Seriously though, the costuming for this evil queen was so fantastically perfect, how could you not be inspired?

Cruella DeVil

And last but not least, the lady who, if I was going to actually dress up for Halloween (instead of just handing out candy to cute little trick or treaters), would be my hands down costume of choice
- especially considering that I already have a white (faux) fur coat that would make the perfect finishing touch - the ultimate cold-hearted, puppies-be-damned-I-want-my-fur-coat, no holds barred fashionista, Cruella DeVil. She even has her own MAC makeup line, she's that fierce.

Now I want to hear - what are your costume ideas? And will you actually be dressing up this year?

i was going to go as morticia adams just to get some use out of my black maxi dress but i've decided on a zombie nurse - lots of fun with face paints! x

I LOVE all of these ideas! Especially Madame Medusa! I always thought she was one of the more horrific Disney villains! Everyone goes on and on about Cruella & Maleficent (from Sleeping Beauty) being evil but IMO Medusa is much worse-probably because she seems much more realistic and is doing things in a more "real world" context.
