Boys in Glasses

I discovered the work of illustrator Katie Turner via Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky, and couldn't stop smiling at her colourful and sweet images. She has a particular affinity for boys in glasses which I share, in addition to a great list of boyfriend requirements which made me laugh and feel a sense that she is distantly and unknowingly a kindred spirit. Check out her BF requirement list and more illustrations via her site or tumblr.

In other news ...

Do any of you remember my post on poet and singer/songwriter Tanya Davis? Her latest video for her poem How to Be Alone is receiving a ridiculous amount of attention (which I think is absolutely and thoroughly well deserved) and is quickly closing in on a million hits via youtube!

I have to say, as someone who is currently spending far more time alone than I ever have before, living in a new city where I don't really know anyone or have any sort of social circle, this video was something I could not only totally relate to, but a total encouragement to 'embrace' this alone time, and so I thought I'd share it here. Enjoy!

Music Monday: A little bit good, a little bit lovely

You may recall me mentioning The Good Lovelies in my post about the Winnipeg Folk Fest, but I thought that these ladies deserved a mention. They are a Juno-award winning trio based out of Toronto that I initially heard about from my fantastic cousin Rachel and subsequently went to see when they played at the Home County Folk Fest in London with Jill Barber.

They have a fun, folk-y sound with great harmonies, and I can say for sure that they put on a fabulous show, not to mention fun vintage style! I have their first album and it is one that I put on for a feel-good moment, or just to sing along to their fun and catchy tunes.

MARC by Marc

I saw this Marc by Marc Jacobs lookbook on Shopbop ages ago and loved it immediately, not only because I am a huge fan of his designs but also because the lookbook had a library theme.

Marc Jacobs + Libraries = two of my favourite things. So of course I had to share.  Extra points if you catch my insanely dorky and bad library related pun in my post title..  oh dear. If you don't get it, it's probably better that you don't fully take in the extent of my rather sad little attempt at library humour.. haha.

If I could be the librarian who dresses solely in Marc by Marc, I think life would be pretty fantastic, have to say.
